Fight Like a Girl

At the anti-labor Tea Party rally in Madison yesterday, Sarah said, “The 2012 elections begin here.”
The words of a non-candidate? Washington Times doesn’t think so.

They say her “rip-roaring…pep talk reminds why she would be a formidable candidate,” and that her
“charisma, authentic ‘woman of the people’ quality and common-sense, family-oriented conservatism”
could carry her “a lot of the way” to the White House.

All who have contempt for her can sit around the campfire and deride her.
But there is another America out there, thrilled and energized by what the Washington Times
calls her “weekend tour de force” in Wisconsin.

And then there is Sarah herself. No accident that she used the phrase, “Fight like a girl.”
It’s a Bomshel song that says:

“Hold your head high.
Don’t ever let them define
The light in your eyes.
Love yourself, give ’em Hell.
You can take on this world.
You just stand and be strong
And then fight
Like a girl.

“Oh, with style and grace
Kick ass and take names…”

Not all of us would agree that Sarah is doing it with “style and grace,” but it would be naive
to think that she doesn’t still intend to “kick ass and take names.”

She’s already taken mine. I wonder if she knows how to spell it.

Whatever Palin decides, she plans to figure in the 2012 elections–as though she gives the GOP marching orders.

Palin did just send out a SarahPac letter for money and then suddenly showed up in WI. So it is possible her rousing speech was to make her appear to be running so people would contribute to her PAC.

I actually think she seemed very rattled, unhinged almost, while giving that speech.. I expected her to start shaking her fist in the air any minute. She just seems miserable–angry about everything.

  • Joe:

Or, as Maurice Sendak might say, “Let the wild rumpus begin.”

  • Julian:

I’m probably completely wrong but I can’t see Palin running. I don’t believe she would part with the cash needed to mount a campaign. I don’t believe she has the guts to front real interviewers who will ask the tough questions. I don’t believe there is anyone in her inner circle who will give her a reality check as to what her chances really are.
And finally, she’s too damn lazy.

  • Heidi3:

Karl Rove will creep in on little cat feet, and give her a gnarly blindsided THWACK… guaranteed.

  • Rocky in Texas said...:

I think anyone running for potus, congress and/or the senate should be required to take a drug test three times a week, produce full medical records and have a full psych evaluation done, and…

they should be wired up to a lie detector that has a monitor that faces the t.v. screen and/or the audience so that the people that are watching the speaker can clearly see the detector expose there bullshit.

I am sick and tired of hearing all these assholes spew total bullshit at will getting zero resistance from the phony journalist.

    Game on is right!
    All Sowah does is fight.
    Fight. Fight. Fight
Big mean Sowah is always looking to fight.

And that’s about it. Not much else.

It can’t be anything but horrible for Palin if she puts her name in the hat. Certainly GW was not the most intelligent guy on the block, but I can’t help but think that his privileged upbringing gave him more protection against detractors. Right or wrong, GW had a pedigree and had a backer that was ten times smarter than he was (Rove). Plus, he had Cheney who had a political pedigree 10 miles long and 20 years in the making. Cheney also is a person lacking the “human kindness” gene and did the dirty work of the Bush presidency.

Of course, if Palin has a “kingmaker” such as Rove on her side then she might progress further than any of us would like to see. I cannot see a wealthy benefactor bestowing major funding and “cheerleading” upon a woman who was given great advice by some of her VP campaign managers telling her to go home and “study”; which she didn’t. She is very promising in the “political puppethood” category, but given her history of not following orders and not being a team player, I don’t think she will find a Cheney or a Rove to be either her unethical political doppelganger or a Rove that would choose to be “her Brain. She took the easy way out and chose to be more of a Religio/Celebrity figure that makes money exciting the 25% of our Country that buys into her schtick. If people thought that her Sarah Palin’s Alaska reality show made her less that “presidential”, well, a Real Hollywood Story regarding her life makes her no better than Charlie Sheen.

  • Alaskan:

Always with the cute funny cliches and bullet-point speech. So annoying. What does that even mean?
Think Bomshel will approve, or respond like Heart did and send her a cease-and-desist letter for her appropriation of “Barracuda”?

November 2008 – “…the devoutly faithful governor said she would wait for a sign from God, and that she is confident God would show the way to the White House.
‘And if there is an open door in (20)12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I’ll plow through that door.'”

Rove is not the Kingmaker. It’s the Kochs and Malek. Or maybe it’s the whole team. I think she WILL run. Because they want her to. The game isn’t actually taking the White House. The game is keeping the unwashed masses agitated, grooming that vote, and production of her as a candidate. And they’re doing well in that.
If she indeed ended up as a viable candidate, well, then, that’s just icing on the cake. The Kochs are far from done; they bought into that program in 2008, made the initial investment and are continuing ongoing support.
It doesn’t come much more transparent.

  • WakeUpAmerica:

    Amen to that.

  • Alaskan:

    She burbled again.
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
    And burbled as it came!

“It seems very pretty,” she said when she had finished it, “but it’s rather hard to understand!” (You see she didn’t like to confess even to herself, that she couldn’t make it out at all.) “Somehow it seems to fill my head with ideas-only I don’t exactly know what they are! However, somebody killed something: that’s clear, at any rate-“
Through The Looking Glass: And What Alice Found There

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe.

    “Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
    The frumious Bandersnatch!”
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought —
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
    And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
    And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
    The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
    He went galumphing back.
“And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
    O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!’
    He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
    Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe.

    Coward to the bone.

“I cannot see a wealthy benefactor bestowing major funding and “cheerleading” upon a woman who was given great advice by some of her VP campaign managers . . .”

But, but — Rupert already DID. Right after the election, he put his $7M bet on her (in the form of the book advance), to learn whether she would sink or swim. And she has swum. Every 10 minutes, some of are saying she will she will self-destruct by tomorrow, but it aint happened yet.

    Joe: we need you.

  • AKRNC:

If I had only listened to the audio rather than seeing the video of the speech, I would also have pictured her with her fist raised in the air, jumping up and down, stomping her feet. She came across like a petulant child with a “screech” filled with multiple lies about President Obama. Her jealousy of him is so obvious. She is trying so hard to have him notice her, comment on her statements, etc. but contrary to what her minions at C4P think, he is far too busy running the country to be bothered by the likes of a former governor who couldn’t be bothered to finish her term. She dares to question his integrity when she left the people of Alaska in the middle of her term in order to fill her bank account. The hypocrisy is overwhelming.

  • Molly:

I’m inclined to agree with you.

  • Alaskan:

She isn’t going to self-destruct. She has already lost any shred of credibility with any thinking individual in the Free World. As for her fan club, nothing will change their minds. Ignorance and lack of education will rule the day. The Kingmakers are counting on it.
What it will come down to is a test of true patriotism and civic duty. Will enough intelligent Americans bother to vote? Or will thinking Americans across the country and all over Alaska abdicate the responsibility and fail to vote, leaving the election to the Tea Party and Conservative Christians. If that happens, we get exactly what we deserve.

Too funny, she stole Stephen Colbert material:
“We didn’t elect you just to rearrange the deck chairs on a sinking Titanic; we didn’t elect you just to stand back and watch Obama redistribute those deck chairs.”

Stephen Colbert, 2006 White House Correspondents Dinner, roasting George W. Bush:
“So, the White House has personnel changes. And then you write, “Oh, they’re just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.” First of all, that is a terrible metaphor. This administration is not sinking. This administration is soaring! If anything, they are rearranging the deck chairs on the Hindenburg!”

  • AKRNC:

There is no freakin’ way that Palin intends on parting with a dollar of her money in order to campaign. This is why she is still asking for PAC money despite having over a million dollars left at the end of the last fiscal period. She wants more money to travel and spend on consultants, etc. but she NEVER uses her own that’s what OPM is for! I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bristol’s LLC in the list of payments made and that is why she mentioned Bristol being with her during her recent speeches and talking about the info Bristol googled for her. Let’s see what she pays her for her “consulting” work!

I have a friend who is an “old guard member of the RNC” for lack of a better term. He’s been around for years and knows what is going on behind the scenes. Needless to say, Palin will have a hard time drawing the money she would have even six months ago due to her behavior, her inability to listen to what anyone recommends and her complete refusal to follow direction of any type other than from Todd, of all people! She has her minority of supporters but I doubt she could raise the money needed nor could she put together a team of people to take her through a campaign. She trusts nobody and will not allow anyone to know what is going on. In fact, it appears as if RAM has been very quiet lately, too. She isn’t doing anything behind the scenes that speaks of her ramping up a Presidential exploratory committee, let alone a campaign.

I know there are a lot of people who would like to see her run but after yesterday’s divisive, nasty rhetoric where she was disgustingly disrespectful of the President despite the disagreement of the issues, she’d do nothing but further divide this country as she has already accomplished in the past two years. We don’t need anyone like her representing our country in any way to the rest of the world. She’s already thought to be a fool, do we really want to look like fools who thought her worthy of the nomination?!

  • carollt:

I think many of Sarah’s skeletons will be making an appearance outside of the closet if she chooses to run. One has to assume that Karl Rove and probably Mitt Romney have been digging around in Alaska for facts about Mrs. Palin. No doubt they are keeping their powder dry until the appropriate time.

  • Deb:

It is no surprise that Romney hired Steve Schmidt early in the process. Schmidt knows all the secrets and could bring Palin down in a minute. They will let her continue to spew vitriole until she is no longer useful. Her demise will be swift and efficient, not by the Democrats, but by those on the right.

  • Mary:

Is the writer for the Washington Times hard of hearing or did he/she read a transcript of Sarah’s speech rather than hearing it? Because if THAT was “rip roaring”, I just don’t know what to think. I heard shrill and borderline hysterical.

  • Kilob:

That makes perfect sense. To have National Security Top Secret credentials you must undergo all of those and more. If Wasilli Vanilli believes we are going to trust her with the “football” or access to intelligence files thaty would the mind, she’s living in Delusional Land.

  • True Blue Girl:

Sarah Palin has consistently demonstrated her preference for third-rate sycophant hacks. How many competent campaign professionals do you think will sign on for any run she announces? The mess she will make of it will shred what’s left of the GOP. And that’s best-case. It gets uglier and more embarrassing from there. In fact, I believe it will be Karl Rove and his back room guys that unleash the dogs on Sarah, and we may yet learn some of these secrets and fatal flaws from surprising sources.

  • Dicer7:

Sarah does not have a single original idea. She steals from everyone without giving credit and guess what, the Lamestream Media, never calls her on it.Thank Heavens for Google and You Tube……THE TRUTH will prevail. She is paid to spew hate and that says a lot about a person.

  • karenw729:

She’s all for fighting as long as she’s got security between her and the crowd, there’s no real journalists with microphones near her mouth, she’s just had her hair, makeup, and nails done, and she can make a quick exit as soon as she’s done screeching. Oh yes, she’s a real real fighter….NOT.

  • True Blue Girl:

Her narcissism and other mental health issues make her vulnerable to world-class manipulator/exploiters like the Koch and Murdock cartels. She is a poor student and an obtuse bigot, no matter how well honed her grifting instincts. She may well run and leave a nasty stinking smear across the American political landscape.

In many ways she is the perfect opposite for Barack Obama. It may well be a defining moment in America as we have the opportunity to clearly see what ignorance, racism, and dominionist fundamentalism looks like as she pageant walks it around the country.

The only question is whether the American media can awaken from its stupor and cover her as a candidate and not a celebrity.

  • grammy97:

I believe that the Koch brothers have already bought the necessary computer wizards to program the voting machines. It won’t matter how many people vote, or for whom. The machines will give the purchasers what they paid for.

  • bja:

She thinks if she declares her candidacy she’ll be running against Barack Obama. Wrong. She’s gonna be running against Mitt, Huck, The Donald and whomever else decides to go in for the primary circus. She has no idea what she’ll be in for if she declares. She’s gonna have to run a gauntlet of blood-thirsty political ops that are far more vicious than anything she’s ever encountered.

Too bad she won’t have to run against Hillary Clinton for the nomination the same way Barack Obama had to. She’d be a crumpled mess in the corner.

  • B:

Joe will have a busy May putting final touches on his Sept. release–reading emails released, Dunn’s book, Bailey’s book, and maybe followup by a real Reporter, not Repeater, on Prof. Scharlott’s paper. (Not holding my breath on that last one.)

  • Diane:

I don’t think she will run either. She will not give up the fox gig and all that money those nice people send her.
She has to keep up the pretense that she is considering it, to keep the money coming, but with enough doubt to be kept on Fox news.

If she does run, she will not be the republican candidate. She will run as an independent. I think the R’s will give her the heave ho and it will make her angry enough to run anyway. She has Lisa Murkowski as a role model. If she runs as an independent and loses, it is not so damaging as a lose as a party candidate. This way she can keep her options open for 2016.
If I am totally wrong and she does manage the R nomination, then keep a close eye on her VP choice. She is a quitter and will never finish her term.
Unless of course, the journalists do their job and expose her for the fraud she really is and totally destroy the palin myth!

  • Jessica Clemons:

I think the Koch brothers are her benefactor.

  • VHTG:

“I actually think she seemed very rattled, unhinged almost, while giving that speech.. I expected her to start shaking her fist in the air any minute. She just seems miserable–angry about everything.”

Reply: Of course she did. You described her demeanor perfectly.

Sarah just got her first taste of what life is like out here amongst the non tea party majority and she didn’t like it, not one bit. Sarah’s appearances are all so carefully staged and closely orchestrated with no detractors allowed. Until this one. Welcome to Madison, Sarah.

I guess she didn’t realize she’d have no control over that huge space outside her barricaded area. Sarah is not used to being surrounded and drowned out by thousands of smart, chanting, booing, anti-Palin-Walker protestors. Lol. How’dja like Wisconsin, Sarah?

I guess that was a real wake up call to see her fans (several hundred) vs. several thousands of anti-Palin voters. Maybe she’ll actually start understanding that the polls showcasing her egregiously low approval ratings are REAL. Hint: there are lotsa’ places that despise you even more than Madison, Wisconsin, Sarah.
The Palins weren’t good enough for America in 2008 and they aren’t good enough now. (Nor will they ever be)

    Welcome to Democracy, Mrs.Palin. 😉

  • g:

She’s burning her bridges with the Republican establishment. There’s no way she’s going to be their candidate.

And if there’s a battle between Two Grifters, Sarah and Trump, for an independent run, The Donald will crush her.

  • g:

When she started talking about how Walker wanted to SAVE your jobs, didn’t want to HURT you….. the first thing that popped into my mind was the crazy-mother scene in “Carrie” where Piper Laurie raves lovingly at Sissy Spacek before stabbing her.

  • lilly lily:

And meanwhile the media give her a pass on all the booing mass of people who outnumbered the bused in Tea Party people (I read Koch gave them free folding seats for the privelege of being Tea Party hardy willing to brave the sleet). The media acted as if there was no anti Palin masses. Only her support.

And what did the unions give the mass of anti- Palin crowd. Nothing but the satisfaction of being there to boo her.

She sounded like the hysterical, and attention demanding bitch that she is.

  • Pat Padrnos:

Your point is exactly what made me puzzled about this event. Why did she put herself in a situation where she would have no control over the crowd? It had been in the press that the pro-labor people would be out in force. Attempts to bus in TP’ers only worked so – so. What was she expecting? The whole thing is weird.

  • BanditBasheert:

I think her real undoing was when she chose to ignore Roger Ailes to SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP after the Gifford’s shooting. It was clear that many many people were angry and upset – her little “map of bullet targets” with Giffords name outlined was everywhere. She was taking hits right and left and she wanted to stand up and try and explain and defend herself.

He told her no – he stated he told her to shut up and stay out of it.

But like the giant intellect that she is, she got up ahead of the President and made the most horrific, obnoxious, thoughtless, braindead speech she has ever given. She tried to pivot the discussion away from the Tragedy in Tucson to the Weird in Wasilla. It didn’t work – people were absolutely horrified at her behavior.

THAT was Sarah – the real Sarah. She showed her soft underbelly and lack of caring to the American people during a time of national stress following the Giffords attempted assassination. She showed just how pretentious and thoughtless she really is. She showed that in the face of all that death, she had to make it all about her.

She pretty much vanished for awhile right after that horrendous error. Perhaps she dropped from manic to depressive, but something went very very wrong and she went into hiding.

  • Sally:

Game on, except that it is a game to her, and running this country is anything but a game. I think she has this idea that it’d be just like running Alaska…just with a bigger staff. The woman can’t keep her lies straight, how would she ever remember budget numbers, unemployment facts, the names of her children….all the important stuff, let alone everything about the world around us? She should make up a new word to describe herself…moronic isn’t enough.

  • sallyngarland,tx:

I’ve always thought the Presisency, VP slot or anything political, is all about winning to Palin. I don’t think she thinks about the job, other than as an afterthought. Just winning. She obviously hates to lose and she is truly showing it–and really always has.

  • sallyngarland,tx:

Oops. I meant Presidency but I can actually imagine her whining “I want the Presisency”.

  • Yep, that’s right she’s “gaming” all her bots pretending to act like she’s going to run…what is she waiting for?

Is her “game on” the equivalent of I’m running?

I cannot stomach this asinine woman.

  • sallyngarland,tx:

She just unveiled a new look on SarahPac. She must of thought she’d be raking in the cash after WI.

I just don’t believe Palin can change many minds. People haven’t liked all the hate up to this point and I imagine it will get worse. I hope people vote in 2012 so these hateful politicians might get the message(probably won’t sink in, though.)

  • Now that’s downright scary…Bush stole the election and we can’t have another GOP thug stealing the 2012 election.

  • FrostyAK:

Thank you. I have always loved Jabberwocky.

  • FrostyAK:

$arah dwells in an alternate universe. One where up is down and right is left (no, actually where right is wingnut). In her universe, those crowds weren’t booing, they were cheering her on.

Someone with that amount of mental incapacity cannot/will not see that she cannot be POTUS. Cannot see that she is being used by her puppeteers. “God’s will…..”

Even the books and emails forthcoming will not deter her ambitions. NEVER underestimate the mentally incompetent $arah Paylin. Nor her puppeteers. They already gave us GW Shrub.

It’s as if the real people who support her are living in the Matrix.

  • msf:

There have been times I’ve felt frustrated that he doesn’t respond to Screech, but really being ignored is the thing she just can’t stand. Sociopaths love attention. I think she was a bit of a desperado in Madison. She always hand picks her crowd which didn’t happen this weekend. Koch apparently didn’t spend enough money busing the baggers in. Bashing Obama all the time. She really is such a one trick pony.

  • sallyngarland,tx:

After milking the press for as much coverage as she has gotten, and will get, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear Palin turn her decision not to run back on the press.

  • krbmjb05:

We just need to start chanting “Gabrielle Giffords” everywhere she goes.

  • Alaskan:

Hence the “Looking Glass” comment. Everything is contrary and makes no sense – Wonderland, Tweedle Dum/Tweedle Dee, arbitrary and opposite.

It’s a tremendous comment on us, as a country of people. We’ve become so genuinely shallow and self-absorbed, so safe and comfortable, so superficial and removed from reality individually and collectively, that this kind of thing is possible and can perpetuate itself.

Can you imagine this woman and her circle of mentors, Greta Van Susteren, Glen Beck, et. al., 50 years ago?
Can you imagine publishing outright lies about yourself in the newspaper and getting away with it, in our grandparents’ time?
